Everyone says "engage in DMs" but no one tells you HOW??
In the past 27 days, I have
- Sent 133 DMs
- Received 129 replies
- Made 1 friend/day
Here's how I craft a perfect DM to get a response:
🧵 (DM template incl)
I started DMing since my first day on Twitter. Why?
Because money Twitter is boring without friends.
By using these strategies, you'll make genuine friends who'll always support you like I made.
Introducing to you, The FRIENDS FUNNEL(I coined this term)
Let's go 🔥
1. Make a great impression
Before you meet someone, what's the 1st thing you'd do?
Dress well, right?
…Come back to Twitter and look at your profile.
Is it dressed well?😅
You got that. Improve your profile.
Need help?
Ask me here…
2. Warm it up
Before you send them a message, engage with their content.
- Say their name
- Use emojis
- Call them bro
Enough. Shoot a DM.
Next part is:
3a. Send a personalized message
I know you're craving for a template.
…But you gotta pass the "not a bot" test.
How? Show your
- Interest
- Personality
- Purpose
Don't just say Hi, how are you lol.
Immediately ghosted.
3b. Appreciate them
People love being praised.
How will anyone dare not replying to an appreciation msg?
Leverage this.
Admire their work.
Say you resonate with their content.
Tell them how their content improved your life.
Just say anything other than negative words.
Next…
4. Try to get them emotional
Emotions sell.
If you want them to remember you, you gotta put in emotions.
The best way? Use emojis
Get them to laugh with you.
Get them to be a bit sad.
Never make them angry.
Tell a joke. Whatever.
Put in work…
5. Continue the conversation
I'm assuming you got a reply(def)
…What next?
Ask questions:
What're you doing on Twitter?
What are your goals
What you do IRL
…You name it.
Mostly, I ask about their country and how to pronounce their name.
6. How to get followed
By now, they'll have followed you.
If they didn't, you should make the move.
But don't haste.
Follow them in the middle of conversation, especially when you're talking about something personal.
I mean, about their life.
You'll be surprised!
7. Start engaging with their content, again
If you want them to engage, you gotta make the moves first.
Start replying to their tweets.
They'll do the same.
I bet.
8. Don't ghost them
Now that you've made a connection, don't be like "out of sight out of mind".
Text them at least once every week.
Engage with their content.
And keep the ball rolling…
9. Easiest method for instant friendship
Lastly, if you want to skip all of these steps then do 2 things
- Record a 30 sec video of you based on 3a and 3b
- Send your calendly link and get them on a call
Simple and 2x more effective.
If you are a good person in real life, you'll never struggle with DMs.
Do's
Show your personality.
Be genuine and kind.
Don'ts:
Never make fun of them.
Never share your personal info.
Never click on any links.
Not all people are here for connections.
Some can scam. Beware.
Who to DM?
Message other creators with a similar audience size as yours.
If you go for the mammoth creators with > 100k + followers, they won't get into your friends funnel that easily.
TL:DR
•Make a great impression
•Send a personalized message
•Warm it up
•Appreciate them
•Try to get them emotional
•Start engaging with their content, again
•Continue the conversation
•How to get followed
•Don't ghost them
•Easiest method for instant friendship
