Since we're talking of things to do or not do next year. I've tried to educate teachers, parents, whoever is concerned, about learning disabilities. They think a child not getting good grades in class is simply that child being stupid. And it has taken me time to understand

that many parents and teachers in this country weren't intellectually curious people and as a result have a limited worldview held back by a limited vocabulary. Which is a way of saying that many of you out there are stupid. Not your kids. There's so many learning disabilities

and picking up a stick to beat a kid for bad grades isn't going to suddenly give them good marks after. The commonest one is ADHD. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. They just won't concentrate in class however much they want to. Can't sit dow to read for long. Or there's

such hyperactivity going on in their heads that they often drift off to another world & next thing you know, a lesson is done and that kid doesn't remember a thing the teacher said. If that sounds like you growing up, here's a revelation: There's meds for it. You were not stupid.
