Most people overcomplicate meditation.
They believe there is only one "right" method how it can be done.
This couldn’t be further form the truth.
If you worry if you're really meditating or doing it right...
Let me tell you:
You can’t really do meditation wrong.
There are countless meditation techniques.
But they all come down to two things:
Awareness and Focus.
What does this mean?
Awareness means you are conscious about your body, thoughts, emotions and your surroundings.
You become the observer.
It's as simple as being aware of the quality of air.
Being aware of your heartbeat.
Or noticing that you're thinking about twitter again.
What's focus?
Focus is to channel your attention on a single point.
Tuning out all distractions.
The most common practice is to focus your attention on your breath.
Focus is a superpower in modern times where everything is competing for your attention.
But how do you start?
First, drop your pressure and expectation for meditation.
It's not complicated.
You can simply set a timer for 5 min. and sit down.
Just do nothing and observe what happens..
How do you feel?
What do you think?
Observe yourself like you would observe a stranger.
Become aware of your thoughts and feelings.
Do not value. Only observe.
When the 5 minutes are over...
Congratulations you just meditated.
„Okay I got it I just have to sit and not force anything to meditate but how do you meditate Takezo?“
Here are 3 meditations I love to practice:
1. Breathe
The famous meditation of observing the breath. During every breath I say in my mind:
„Breathing in I grant my body peace
Breathing out I plant a smile“
Don’t worry when your thoughts go away from your breath
Simply recognize it and start breathing again
2. Zoom out
To recognize that we're not the body & are just a little grain of sand in this world
Imagine yourself from a bird eye perspective - as if you would look at yourself from a camera in the corner of the ceiling...
Then zoom out
Recognize the room
The house
The street
The neighborhood
Going higher like a plane
The city
The earth
The solar system
Until there is only darkness
You can either keep expanding into nothingness
Or zoom all the way back in and repeat the process
3. Visualize
To speed up the process between your desired state and your current state it helps to visualize your goals.
By clearly imagining them you will program your mind to work towards them.
Remember: you can’t do something that you can’t imagine.
Let’s get practical...
Imagine how you want your life to be.
Imagine the things you want to experience.
Create a motion picture in your mind and try to go into as much detail as possible.
For example if your dream is to fly first class to Japan.
Imagine how you would behave at the airport if money is no issue.
How the seats in the plane would feel..
How the Sushi in Japan tastes..
How is the smell?
Think of your dream as already achieved.
Then...
Recognize how you feel...
When you end your visualization keep that feeling with you.
Make it a feeling of certainty to bring this visualization into the material world.
Keep that feeling with you throughout the day and your life will change.

Focus.
