Ehrlich predicted in a book in 1968 that hundreds of millions of people were going to starve to death in a few years because of overpopulation. He argued for federal tax changes to discourage child bearing.
And yet here he is being treated like a serious expert by 60 Minutes.
By the way, the world population was 3 billion in the 60s. It's currently about 8 billion.
Also: Starvation declined during the 70s, and has steadily continued to do so since then.
I say all this despite the fact that I'm as concerned about sustainability as anyone. But Ehrlich is a quack, and should be treated as such.
