If you're coming from a traditional pen & paper industry there are MASSIVE opportunities to implement software
Take plumbing: Plumbing is a traditional pen & paper industry
On the surface, it doesn't look like there's much room for technology. After all its plumbing, right?
Wrong. In any business you have customers.
If you have customers you have opportunities to sell. You can up-sell, cross-sell, and sell new projects.
Now you need a place to manage all these customers. That's where a CRM comes into play.
A central database
You also have lines of communication. Now you want the calls tracked, right?
Tracked and kept in a central history for that customer.
Yes. So you need communication management software. SMS, Calls & Emails.
This way your salespeople can manage customers from 1 view
This is instead of using personal phones/emails/texts that aren't recorded to the customer. Without this, it leads to miscommunication.
It's hard to track performance and what areas they need to improve without this
You also have the actual plumbers.
They need to drive to an address right?
They need to know where to go and what to do when they get there
Now you could simply just give them the address list for the day and tell them to go
But what would be better? A manual list or...
An app they have on their phone that tells them everything they need to know about a customer before they go?
Exactly. The software would save a huge amount of time wasted on miscommunication. And would provide a much more seamless customer experience
Now they need to drive to the customer, right?
How do they know the best route to take?
This is where tech comes in
You don't want to send the plumber across town and backtrack to other customers... It just doesn't make sense. A dispatch tool could automatically do this
The customers need to pay, right?
This is where a payment tool comes in handy. The payment could be captured and invoices issued in the software vs manually writing it out and bringing back the papers for the office to manage.
Now you see the full picture. There's always room for technology in traditional pen & paper businesses.
This is a huge opportunity for businesses that adapt. Otherwise, they'll simply lose to the bushiness that adapt.
This is the reality of running any kind of company in 2023
I know someone that runs their entire multi-million $$$ plumbing biz all from their computer/phone REMOTELY...
This is the power of technology
All business is sales. All sales are business
This thread is about sales systems. Just not what you'd normally think of...
