My solo creator business does $10k/mo in revenue
But two short years ago I was a waiter hustling for tips...
Here's my entire online business strategy laid out for anyone to replicate (and escape the rat race):
In this thread, you're going to learn how to:
• Outline & monopolize your niche
• Write content that drives sales & leads
• Convert readers into subscribers into customers
• Identify and exploit audiences looking for content
But before we get started – here's one note.
I fully believe I'm NOT the exception to the rule.
If you can:
• Follow the protocol
• Stay consistent over time
• Test, pivot, and interpret results
I know you'll come out with positive results.
Without further adieu – let's dive in...
1. Find your niche's "Golden Intersection"
The golden intersection of niching happens when:
• What you're passionate about
• What is already popular
• What is profitable
All align in the marketplace.
(We'll examine finding popular content a bit later)
2. Create your "niche of one"
Answer these 3 questions to find your differentiation:
• WHO is your content for?
• HOW are they improving?
• WHAT is your content about?
• WHY should the reader care?
And fill out this template:
3. Start with the end in mind
"Fail to plan and you plan to fail" – Churchill
Make sure you know:
• Where you want to go
• How you're going to get there
• An end date to measure success
This template lays everything out
(Post it somewhere visible)
4. Inflitrate popular conversations
Understanding "what an audience wants" trips a lot of people up.
Here's your protocol:
• Go to Quora
• Search your niche
• Find an answerable question
• Continue to "view question" log
Anything over 250k traffic views is viable.
5. Publish (and test) tweet content
Use your market-viable content and publish as tweets:
• Track data for at least 60 days
• Look for "signal" and find winners
• Double-down on content that's working
No need to overthink the data (likes, RTs, etc.)
6. Comment under large accounts (and...)
Provide valuable content that:
• Adds more to the discussion
• Magnifies on a central idea
• Offers "horizontal" insight
If you want to read more of what I mean – use this resource:
7. Expand tweets into threads
Take the:
• Comments
• Tweets
That gave you signal and use:
@TwemexApp
@Tribescaler
@hypefury
As tools to help you nail the perfect "hook":
8. Repurpose threads into Linkedin Carousels:
Write it once – post 2X
• Use the @TaplioHQ carousel generator
• Make any necessary edits with Canva
• Post it on Linkedin for extra traffic
The built-in social proof helps here:
8.1 Repurpose threads into Medium articles:
Similar to step eight:
• Use your thread headline as your article headline
• Each individual tweet is an article paragraph
• Then add a free-for-use title image
We're gaining more exposure (with no extra work):
9. Drive all traffic to your newsletter opt-in
Every:
• Article
• Thread
• Carousel
You publish should drive the traffic to your email newsletter.
(Hypefury allows automatic plugs on Twitter & LinkedIn):
10. Survey subscribers during the welcome email:
To figure out what to sell your audience, include:
• Response requests
• Questions
• Surveys
To help you figure out what your audience wants:
11. Create your (sales-focused) landing page
A landing page converts readers into customers.
Use:
• Decoys
• Storytelling
• Copywriting
To create a landing page that converts.
(If you need help – use this template to get started):
12. Use email to initiate your "pre-launch"
Email sells.
Below you'll find a template to sell via email. it:
• Outlines the problem
• Shares transformation stories
• And positions your product as the solution
Use it when you need to launch your offer:
13. Build an army of advocates
Social proof is a powerful persuasion tool.
With your offer, make sure you:
• Collect testimonials
• Create case studies
• Generate reviews
To help solidify your offer as the go-to in your niche.
My favorite tool for this is @testimonialto
14. Repeat steps five through nine
Traffic is the lifeblood of any online business.
Keep creating content on:
• Twitter
• Medium
• Linkedin
Or any other platform that helps sell your offer:
TL;DR Part I:
How to create a $10k/mo solo creator business (and escape the rat race):
