The Origin story of The Dark Vagabond.
How to Transmutate Fear into Hope.
🧵THREAD
In Lisbon a vagabond had partied all night at a local market festival. He had met a man from Chile, they drank and danced all night. The party ended and the vagabond brought the man back to his hotel.
On his way home in the dark, many hours after midnight, the streets flooded with people going to afterparties, or conversing or smoking or drinking, or grabbing their last drinks, the vagabond ran into an altercation with two men on their bikes in the dark.
The vagabond was avoiding the crowd, and these men. He had snaked past their bikes. These men deemed he had cut them off. Rather it was late, they were without women, and they were more than likely inebriated. Thus they got off their bikes and chased the vagabond down.
A moment of clarity, which it always does in such dreadful cases, struck the vagabond and he quickened his pace, all the way back to the square he had passed earlier. Here there were many policemen, and squad cars.
There, turning his back to the police, but his front to the stalkers, arms wide open, the vagabond was gesturing, Come on then, try your luck. This is about survival instinct, improvisation, experience on the road. This is what it takes to be a vagabond in the dark.
