“To measure the quality of your life, simply do nothing, and see how it feels.” — @naval
You’re in control of your life only if you can enjoy inaction without feeling any remorse.
Have you ever tried to convince yourself to normalize silence?

“Whoever does not have two-thirds of his day for himself,” Friedrich Nietzsche wrote in 1878, “is a slave, whatever he may be: a statesman, a businessman, an official, or a scholar.”
2/
The difference between a workaholic and a slave is largely psychological.
A slave is forced to work hard; a workaholic is programmed to choose to work hard.
The alchemy lies in giving the man a sense of independence about his decisions.

During the week, I tend to take (long) walks and spend most of my time meditating in cozy cafés—I’m grateful that I live in a human-scaled town (Brașov) in Transylvania, brimming with colorful vernacular & baroque architecture, surrounded by nature.
4/
My biggest flex is that my work seldom feels like work.
It feels like play.
Ironically, the more it feels like play, the better the results.
Enjoying what you do, failing to perceive your craft as work, feels strange in a world of workaholics.
5/
In order to perceive your work as play, you have to get (very) comfortable with boredom.
Sit down in a room alone with your thoughts & feelings.
Keep a notebook. Travel with it. Sleep with it.
Work out without music.
6/
Aim to walk (slowly, very slowly) without any predetermined destination. Look down at your feet. Notice how effortlessly they move. Feel the ground pushing back against you.
7/
In an age of endless distractions, the biggest accomplishment of a human, a busy primate, is to be able to spend hours and hours without doing anything “productive.”
