Academics rarely possess the self awareness that their trivial jargon & heuristic, are simpleton decorations of exclusion/club elitism.
The ability to ask the right questions, in the right order, prosecute an argument, & bring sound inference to bear - ARE million dollar skills.
The academic will grow angry at the person who understands the schema, strength, and mode of inference inside an argument.
Because those skills allow one to observe the folly and pretense of jargon-heuristic, employed as smoke-and-mirrors means of intimidation.
4 - 3 = 1 has solved more human problems than a Laplace transform could ever hope to - every human is capable of honing such deductive skill. This has little to do with academic degree.
Beware of they who quickly display club accoutrement & costume. Their fear biases their hand.
From experience:
Asking critical path questions, seeking information from disparate sources, and the ability to draw sound inference - are disruptive skills in a well-established power structure, and are threatening skills to a corrupt or ethically bankrupt one.
