Hot Take: AI Based content will increase more the gap between the haves and have-nots of Internet. The currency in question (that the 'haves' have) is quality information.
We who live on the hill, have already trained our banner blindless filters for "SEO optimised" content.
I have seen the rise content-SaaS like Copy\.ai, PepperContent, and a few dozen others. While I fully respect how they have carved out a niche and deep hole pockets of many brand marketing departments - I am in the TG that content generated by those even affect?
If you are in the "site:reddit" Google search bucket already. If look at content often and silently sigh on the inside "ugh this is another SEO piece, no real information here".
If you bookmark on Pocket/Readwise, and jot down notes on Roam/Obsidian, you're already on the hill
But, the haves are the minority. The have-nots are the masses.
And the have-nots read news from Facebook links.
They comment "CFBR" and "agree" on LinkedIn posts.
And they learn about '5 cancer benefits of tea' from Whatsapp forwards that link to a BuzzFeed article.
The recently quick advances in LLMs and the content generation ability, most likely immediately, does not truly affect the haves. The haves are already calling out "GPT generated content" where they see it. The banner blindness is kicking in.
But this does deepen the chasm between the haves and the have-nots. I makes it far more unlikely for someone to be able to cross the uncanny valley of content. And those who have crossed over, have a bigger moat in life in general now.
