Steve Jobs once said:
โ€œThe most powerful person in the world is the storyteller.โ€
But sadly formal education doesn't teach storytelling.
These 7 Tips Will Teach You All The Basics of StoryTelling:
1. Make It Personal
Storytellers who expose themselves a bit by revealing a slice of their own life are far more likely to connect with the audience than others.
Itโ€™s human nature to invest in the personal story of another human being.
So make people connect with you.
2.ย Know Your Target Audience
Good storytellers understand their audience.
When Steve Jobs stood in front of an audience to tell the story of the new iPod or iPhone,
He understood he had to perform for an audience of tech enthusiasts and Apple fans.
Youโ€™ll become a better storyteller if you remain mindful of your target audience all the time.
3. Think About Your End Goal
Every story has some sort of goal.
The best storytellers craft their stories with the desired end result in mind.
Consider your audience and then think about your goal.
4. Be Clear
Lack of clarity is a common problem.
Try asking yourself which details are important for my audience to understand.
Don't add the details which aren't critical for your story.
5. Get Outside Of Your Comfort Zone
Even the best storytellers find it hard to come up with new stories.
But as a storyteller, you have to push your storytelling skills to a higher level.
Don't hesitate to take a few risks and explore different genres.
6. Practice Often
As the saying goes, "Practice makes a man perfect".
Even though there's no perfection but with practice, you can get near to it.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes.
But make sure you learn from every mistake.
7. Ask For Feedback
Don't feel shame asking for feedback from others.
Narrate your story to a friend or someone you trust and ask them for their honest feedback.
This way you'll enhance your skills massively.
