How the Himalayas gave birth to the idea of “India” 🧵
Millions of years ago, the Indian tectonic plate would begin its collision with the gargantuan Eurasian plate, giving birth to the great Himalayas.
The Himalayan earth wrapped by the highest winds in the world would give birth to water. Glaciers turned into rivers that turned into Goddesses as Indians would soon dutifully worship these daughters of the Himalayas.
The great mountains would breathe the monsoon winds across the subcontinent as each exhale and inhale covered the soil in greenery. Fertile river basins would flourish as different cultures thrived in this Petri dish of geography, which soon enough would evolve into civilization.
The Himalayas & their rugged cohorts to the west would incubate India. Cultures would mesh together in fertile river lands. Soon, fire would be bricked into an altar & ascetics donned the color of fire as they adventures into the unknown, seeking something beyond.
The altars would mark the Way as they began dotting India. A magical tongue rang around these sacred fires as stories would morph into civilization. Places became pilgrimages & dirt became divine. Under the shadow of the Himalayas, its rivers, & its beauty, India was born.
