Rain is one of the most beautiful moments of nature. The Holy Qur’an frequently mentions the rain, describing it as a sign of Allah. Many take the rain for granted, however it is full of blessings & offers much to contemplate A thread on the beauty & blessings of rain in Islam…
1/ ‘It is Allah who sends the winds, & they stir the clouds & spread them in the sky however He wills, & He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice’ Surah Ar-Rum
2/ Rain is one of the most important factors for the permanence of life on earth. It is mentioned in various verses of the Qur’an, where Allah gives substantial information about the formation of rain, its proportion and effects.
3/ Rain is one of the miracles of Allah swt and allows us to reflect. Rain is usually a blessing from Allah swt, as He says, “And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest.”

4/ Of the four important angels in Islam, Mikael AS is responsible for rain and sustenance. He is responsible for plants & rain. This is interpreted by many as meaning that he is responsible for physical and spiritual sustenance.
5/ Rain has immense benefits. For example, it provides fresh water for drinking, washing & cleaning. It is vital for our crops, and our food supplies. It is used to further technology and generate industry
6/ Bees, birds and animals, when they roam around the earth, leave behind dry and hard seeds which fall to the earth and remain there, lifeless, until rain falls on them. Then the earth nurtures these seeds to grow - a blessing & wonder to contemplate

8/ Very few might know the fact that spending time in the rain was a practice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and His Companions.
9/ Anas narrated: ‘We were with Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) when rain fell upon us. Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) opened up his garment a bit so that the rain could touch his skin. We asked: “O Messenger of Allah, why do you do this?”
10/ Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied: “Because it has just recently come from its Lord’.” (Muslim, 898)
11/ Muslims believe when it rains it is a great time for the acceptance of Dua (supplications). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Two will not be rejected, du’a when the adhan is being called and at the time of the rain.” (Abu Dawood)
12/ It is narrated by A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that, when it used to rain, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to pray for beneficial rain and say: “O Allah, bring beneficial rain clouds.” (Bukhari)
13/ Many Muslims believe the closer and more intimate relationship they have with nature, the stronger and certainly healthier an impact such an affiliation can have on their faith and relationship with the Creator.
14/ Rain is a reminder of the hereafter as it revives life on earth, like the blowing of the trumpet will restore life on the Day of Judgement ‘who [but Allah] sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts & We revive thereby a dead land – thus will you be brought forth’
15/ Muslims believe Allah swt invites us to observe when He sends us His mercy in the form of rain, to reflect and give thanks to Him. So let’s appreciate this great gift and blessing of rainfall, and use it as an opportunity to contemplate this everyday miracle
