Conclusive Statement of Mughal Shah Alam II being Slave of Marathas:β€”
"Mulk Maal sab kho kar, pade tumhaare bas (vash/control) |
Madhav aisa kijiyo, aawe tumko jas! (jaisa) ||"
Shah Alam II openly admitted he is a Slave in 'vash' (control) of Shrinath Maharaja Mahadji Shinde.
"Having lost all the country & wealth, I have fallen into your control.
Mahadji, now you do as you like!"
β€” Mughal Mirza Ali Gauhar Shah Alam II, Doha composed 1784 CE.
This affirms that not just practically but DIRECTLY, the Mughals were slaves of Marathas through Shindeshahi.

Though a few figures had become Wakil-Ul-Mutlaq earlier, Mughal Badshah considered himself slave ONLY of Marathas, eating food fit for pets.
Under the rule of Shindeshahi House, Mughal Family had to undergo fasting because Marathas kept no food for Mughal Badshah.
Marathas used to present same food to Mughal Badshah that one fed to SLAVES.
If a Maratha tossed coins on floor, Mughals ran like beggars to pick it up.
Mughal Firaqi's Waqiat-E-Alam Shahi states that Maratha Army sang "Heads of Mlecchas crowd the Gates of Shrinath Mahadji Shinde's Court (Delhi)" literally just outside tent of Mughal Shah Alam II.
