> “Greco-Buddhism”
Wikipedia consoomer detected. No such thing ever existed. There was no “Greco-Buddhism” like there is Tibetan Buddhism. It was just a bunch of Greeks following Indian Buddhism after converting to it. It’s not the same thing. Just a term made up on the spot.
Then it’s an utterly flawed and misleading label. Where did Zoroastrianism, Iranic Paganism, Manicheanism, Hellenism, Hinduism etc go?
It’s just a term some occidentals made up on the spot because it sounds cool to imagine.
If anything, the Greeks had virtually zero influence on NW India in terms of philosophy or theology (which is traditionally how Buddhist lineages/ schools are separated, not based on ‘aesthetics’)
For example, there isn’t a single original Greek philosophical text from NW India.
Indian Buddhism did influence Greek philosophy (Pyrrhonism and the Middle Academy/Academic Skepticism) but this isn’t Greco-Buddhism.
