the idea that the failure of the antiwar movement in the 60s and 70s was because the ones leading it were "bad people" is childish and ahistorical
it just looks pathetic to get mad at people 50 years ago when the fact this entire discussion is happening via epic bacon memes online shows how little political influence anyone involved in this has today
here's a prime example: s. brian wilson was part of vietnam vets against the war, and continued his antiwar activism well into the 1980s against the CIA war in nicaragua. he laid down on train tracks to stop an american arms shipment and was run over, destroying his legs
the train crew tried to sue wilson for causing them "emotional distress" when they ran him over. the case was tossed out, and wilson continued his opposition to US imperialism. he was literally willing to lay down his life to stop it, yet the contra war continued.
this isn't due to any failing of wilson or even the central american peace activists of the 1980's. there's plenty to criticize and learn from, but if you're getting bogged down on whether they're "good people" and ignoring the larger picture, you've missed the point.
