1. At least 40 people died when a Yeti Airlines plane crashed in Pokhara, a Nepal army spokesperson says.

2. According to the airline's spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, there were 72 people on board, including 68 passengers and four crew members.
The rescue mission is reportedly ongoing with no known survivors at the time of writing.
3. Meanwhile, the country’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called for an emergency cabinet meeting.
He was said to have directed the Home Ministry, security personnel and all relevant government agencies to carry out immediate SAR operations.
4. Aviation accidents are not uncommon in Nepal due to its remote runways and sudden weather changes.
In 2022, a Tara Air aircraft crashed in the Mustang District, which claimed 22 lives.
In 2018, 51 people died when a plane caught fire when landing in Kathmandu.
