A section of the court didn't want to enthrone Sambhaji after the demise of Shivaji Maharaj, therefore Sambhaji was made captive in Panhala fort. And Soyrabai's son Chhatrapati Rajaram who was just 10 years old was made to sit on the throne.

But Sarnobat Sarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite (the real brother of Maharani Soyrabai) supported Sambhaji Maharaj and with the help of Annaji pant and others, Sambhaji Maharaj was brought in Raigad.
