How to take more action (and unlock your full potential):
You can have all the knowledge in the world.
But it doesn't matter if you can't put it into action.
Most of us are limited by psychological barriers we're not even aware of.
Here are 10 psychological barriers holding you back:
Perfectionism
Nothing's perfect at first.
You launch, get feedback, and iterate - this constant cycle is how you progress.
Perfectionism is a trap and has become a socially acceptable excuse for procrastination.
Aim for excellence, not perfection.
Bright Shiny Object Syndrome
You're to take action but then:
β€’ You hear an idea on a podcast
β€’ You see a new business model on Twitter
You abandon your project and start chasing.
Only to repeat the cycle.
You Need a "Step-by-Step" Blueprint
The world has become too dynamic for true step-by-step formulas.
You're scared of making mistakes, so you become addicted to learning to compensate.
Don't be the guy who has read 500+ business books, but has never launched a business.
You're Self Sabotaging
If I studied for a Chemistry test with 100% effort, I was scared that my best would end up with an F
(I suck at Chemistry).
So I didn't study.
If I failed, I'd comfort myself by saying I didn't try πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.
I sabotaged myself to protect my ego.
Fear of Wrong Decisions
You're scared of making the wrong decision, so it's easier to default to inaction.
But inaction is still a decision in itself.
Jeff Bezos has a framework that he shares at Amazon.
There are two types of decisions:
β€’ Type 1 - They're permanent (having kids)
β€’ Type 2 - They're reversible (moving to a new city)
Don't paralyze yourself by thinking every decision is permanent.
Most decisions are reversible.
You Don't Feel Ready
If you wait until you feel ready, you'll never start.
Just do it, and trust you'll figure it out along the way.
"An entrepreneur is someone who jumps off a cliff and assembles a parachute on the way down"
You Care Too Much About What Others Think
Your job is to create the work and give it your best effort - not to judge it.
What may be average to you could be mind-blowing to someone else.
So ship it and see what others say rather than mind fucking yourself.
You're Comparing Your Work
I'm awe-struck whenever I see the production value of a Mr. Beast video.
But keep in mind he has put in his 20,000+ hours.
In the beginning? He started in his room with just a webcam.
Don't compare your Ch. 1 to someone's Ch. 40
You're Overthinking
"Should I launch my newsletter on Substack, Beehiiv, or x?"
It doesn't matter - decisions like this won't make or break you.
And if you make the wrong decision, it's easy to switch.
Focus on what matters.
You can overthink, but you can't over implement.
You Don't Think You Can Succeed
If you don't think you can succeed, you won't put in your max effort.
Your brain wants to conserve its energy.
Try lowering the bar for success.

Practical Solutions
I shared some of the most common psychological barriers and why it's hard for us to take action.
I will share some frameworks you can use to become more of an action-taker.
One Hour Implementation
As soon as you have a great idea, spend an hour on it.
Drop everything & go!
What does this do?
β€’ The project is now real
β€’ You build momentum (dopamine's addicting)
β€’ You act before you can start doubting yourself
Here's an example:
Starting The DeFi Edge
I decided to start a new Twitter account a year ago.
The 1-hour rule:
β€’ Picked a name
β€’ Purchased the domain
β€’ Generated my profile pic
β€’ & wrote my 1st tweet
I went viral within my 1st three days - it wouldn't have happened if I was stuck planning.
It's an Experiment
Think like a scientist.
Perform experiments, measure, & test again!
Sometimes the experiments go wrong, and that's fine - iterate and try again.
Viewing everything I do as an experiment takes the pressure off.
Rush to Version 5.0
β€œIf you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late.” - Reid Hoffman
The 1st iPhone didn't have copy & paste or an App Store.
Get your 1.0 out as fast as possible to get feedback, then keep improving it.
Launch a Minimum Viable Product
Sometimes you put too much pressure on yourself because of the scale of the project.
An MVP is the bare minimum version to test an idea.
Instead of launching a restaurant, test 1st with a pop-up shop.
Life is short.
We all have excuses, but the only thing stopping you are the stories you tell yourself.
Don't leave life with unfinished books and projects inside of you.
You have a gift - don't rob the world of seeing what it is.
Start now.
Remember, ideas are useless - execution's everything.
