4 years ago today, I defended my PhD thesis. Here are 10 lessons I learned:
1. No data is better than bad data

3. Being kind to others in professional settings can make somebody's day especially if they are in the earlier stages of their academic career.

5. You will lose friends. The nomadic style of academic living will make you become acquaintances with those you might've been the closest with once upon a time.
6. You gotta choose your battles. I absolutely despise this. But sometimes you gotta put yourself first.

7. Life is really short. Call your folks.
