🇭🇺🇹🇷 Turkish authorities said they are ready to offer Hungary their own alternative to the American HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system.

Most likely, they are talking about TLRG-230, one of the latest developments of the Turkish defense industry, which can really be called a HIMARS analogue. However, the American MLRS is theoretically capable of hitting targets at greater distances.

Budapest has not officially announced any purchases, but open sources suggest the Hungarian military lacks such weapons - so the request is definitely in the plans of the Hungarian Defense Ministry.

Hungarian Foreign Affairs Ministry Peter Sijjjártó responded by saying that, when discussing military procurement, Budapest first of all turns to its NATO allies, including Turkey. He said authorities are evaluating a number of proposals to buy MLRS, but gave no other details.

Turkish authorities clearly intend to snatch a piece of the huge defense spending that countries are pouring out amid the Ukrainian conflict. Turkey is already making good money from the crisis (as of April 2022, arms exports increased 30x), they certainly won't stop.
