The astrologer should face the Īndra or East during the
Praśna session. The question is why east and why not NE which is meant for Jupiter or why not N which is meant for Mer. This is because Sun stands as witness to past, present, and future. It is ever illuminating and hence it is important to face its direction as a general rule.
However according to another manuscript, the ḍaivagya should face the direction of strongest planet in the chart which should be saumya. Khalā gṛha or directions of badly placed planets will cause troubles in predictions. It is also understood that a person cannot become an
actual astrologer without brahmin gṛha and rāśi. So, a person who does not have brahmin rāśi or brahmin gṛha as strongest will never become an actual astrologer.
