People my age can remember US anti-China propaganda 20-30y ago focused on Tibet, not Xinjiang.

I also meet EAs, Rationalists, professional scientists who are skeptical of all kinds of things but credulously accept stuff written by wordcel China "experts" who are at best clueless, at worst propagandists.

Among urbanites in China, Xinjiang and Tibet are popular tourist destinations - "My auntie was just there" etc.
If they noticed the kind of tension portrayed by Western media, word would spread fast. 🤔
