This simple breathing technique gives you control over your emotional state.
(If it works in combat, it'll work for your daily stress):
It's called "Box Breathing"
It's designed to introduce a rhythmic, predictable, potent method for managing the stress response.
You know what stress feels like:
Heart rate rises.
Breathing rate increases.
You start sweating.
This is the perfect time to start Box breathing.
Here's how to do it NOW:
1. Sit up straight, shoulders back.
2. Head looking to the horizon.
3. Take 1 full inhale and exhale fully.
4. You are now ready to box breathe.
5. Breathe in for 4, 3, 2, 1
6. Hold breathe for 4, 3, 2, 1
7. Exhale for 4, 3, 2, 1
8. Hold exhale for 4, 3, 2 ,1
Repeat this as many times as needed.
Monitor your heartrate throughout.
If you are feeling VERY stressed and anxious.
Try this:
Breathe in for 4, 3, 2, 1
Breathe out for 4, 3, 2, 1
Repeat.
Once you slow down internally you can progress to holding the breath between inhales and exhales.
This exercise is designed to support your ability to manage your breathing, heartrate, and cortisol in the body.
You can use your breath to direct your energy and to create an Inner Tranquility even when times are stressful.
Try it out for yourself!
