1/9 thread 🧡
These 2 historical texts πŸ‘‡ one belonging to the traveler ibn batutta 1304-1368 AD and the other to ibn khaldun 1332-1406 AD who is referred to as the father of sociology are both never ever referred to by western scholars when discussing somali history

These 2 texts are written by :
1st : A individual that has visited the city himself so is an direct eyewitness.
2nd : a sociologist/anthropologist that is literally discussing the different types of black people in the HOA clearly stating that Mogadishu is a somali city

No arab scholar ever said that Mogadishu was founded by arabs or even indicated towards that. No arab scholar that visited Mogadishu from the 10th - 16th century ever said such a thing and if it was true these arab scholars who visited Mogadishu would’ve surely mentioned it.
4/9
Think about this, if Mogadishu was founded by arabs then why didn’t any arab or muslim scholar that wrote about Mogadishu from the 10th - 16th century ever say it ? Why are the only people who r suggesting it europeans ? Why didn’t the arabs themselves say it ?
5/9
The reason why is simple, no arab founded the city
Although Mogadishu is now 4 the most part an unimportant city in world affairs and has become damaged because of war it was from the 10th to 16th century a major player in world affairs and traded all over the indian ocean

The history of Mogadishu is one of regional dominance and global trade it was called the biggest/wealthiest and most powerful city in east africa by literally every traveler from china to portugal. Its status as the regional powerhouse was unquestioned until the 1600s.
7/9
There wasn’t a single european city or municipality that was doing what Mogadishu was doing in terms of trade from the 10th to the 1500s century! Somali history is one 🌎 engagement and reaching out to others but colonial scholars tried to reduce it 2 being mere camelherders
8/9
Another example is the portuguese not being able 2 conquer Mogadishu after a dozen attempts. And the portuguese losing a big war vs somalis in the north.
this shows that somalis were unimpressed by the Portuguese and were seemingly perfectly capable of dealing with them.
9/9
Somalis must disregard everything written by european scholars on east africa. Its all based on a colonial governor’s desire/interpretation in/of East Africa.
Somalis should establish a East Africa history institution that promotes the correct history of east africa
