I.M Lewis in his book on HOA history states that by the 13th century the hawiye ( somali clan) had established themselves around the arab settlement of marka. And he uses ibn sa’id al maghribi as a source

What shocked me more is he the fact that I.M Lewis is particularly attacking the hawiye clan by ( if you read it carefully ) always referring to hawiye as intruders and immigrants clearly trying to indicate that hawiye are not natives. That seems to be the main objective !

Here r somali historians who have had direct acces to the actual historical text of ibn sa’id al-maghribi and who have translated the original arabic text themselves. Clearly stating that ibn sa’id clearly states that marka is the capital of the hawiya people.

Lets look at some more historical sources here is, muhammad al-idrissi 1100 - 1165 AD a 12th century cartographer that visited merca himself👇 he makes the first ever reference to a somali group ever wich is hawiye and he says that merka is occupied by the hawiye👇

Somali history is very interesting because the more you study it the more you found out about the massive manipulation done by western historians who for the most part just repeat each other!
