To improve the condition of girls, the Indian government has taken several steps over the years such as:
* Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
- Save children from social problems like gender-based abortions and advance child education across the country.
* Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
- Allow parents to set up a trust for providing the child’s schooling and marriage expenses.
* CBSE Udaan Scheme
- To increase the student enrolment of girls in engineering and technical colleges across India.
* Dhanalakshmi Scheme
- Launched in March 2008, it provides conditional cash incentives to low-income families with the girl child.
* Mukhyamantri Laadli Yojana
- Launched by the Jharkhand government, a deposit amount of β‚Ή6000 is made into the post office savings account for a fixed tenure of five years.
* The National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education is on-board on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for streamlining and fast-tracking the release of Scholarships across Ministries / Departments with efficiency, transparency, and reliability.
