1. Malaysians charged over RM15,000 by agents for an Indonesian domestic helper are urged to lodge a report with the consulate general of Indonesia.
β€œWe still receive complaints that some agents charged them RM20,000, RM28,000 and RM30,000,” consul-general Sigit Suryantoro says.
2. Sigit says the complaints will allow the consulate general’s office to blacklist the agency and the agent.
The maximum limit of RM15,000 per worker was set through an MoU on the recruitment and protection of Indonesian domestic helpers, signed by both countries last year.
3. Sigit adds that some 1,000 Indonesian domestic workers had been given work permits under the MoU.
He also urges Indonesians without a valid permit to take advantage of the Labour Recalibration Programme 2.0, which has been extended until year-end.
4. Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution recently said the government had agreed to resume the programme until the end of this year.
Undocumented workers will be given the option to return home or work after registering themselves with a certain fee.
