The article I wrote about psychedelics will completely change your mind about these magic substances.
A thread ๐Ÿงต
If you have ever tried psychedelics, you would have had the whole 'we're definitely aliens' bathroom mirror scenario, or perhaps you just enjoyed talking to the clouds that day.โ
However, despite the fun, psychedelics are actually an ancient plant medicine that has been used for centuries to heal the mind-body-soul complex. โ
Thanks to modern science, we can now understand HOW and WHY psychedelics are able to mediate such profound results.
The definition of a psychedelic.
Recent research suggests that psychedelics promote the growth of connections between neurons, known as synapses. โ
These novel connections between neurons are in areas of the brain, such as the prefrontal cortex, that regulate emotion and mood.โ
Evidently, this is the fundamental reason why certain psychedelic substances can help relieve anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and the fear surrounding death.โ
โ
Psychedelics share a common ability to promote structural and functional neural plasticity in cortical neurones.
Anecdotal reports suggest that what you will spend months, or even years, trying to achieve with pharmaceutical drugs or even practices such as meditation, you can achieve with a single dose of psychedelics in a matter of hours and days.โ
The in-depth science still needs to be fully understood. โ
โ
Still, studies suggest that tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB) and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors are involved, along with the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR).โ
Psychedelics grow in the ground without you and I, or are made by the frog.
No need to be afraid.
Psychedelics could very well be the key to growing back withered neurites and changing our overall sense of clarity and self.โ
โ
Here is the key science on psychedelics.
If you take one thing home, take this slide!
If you are, in fact, a psychedelic newbie, and you are yet to try out one of the many wacky substances available to you - of course in a legalised country with a guide.
I hope that after reading this post, you feel more ready to take the plunge and get trippy.
Who knows, you may grow some extra brain cells in the process!
