Here's what I would do if myself or a loved one developed cancer.
This isn't a foolproof guide, but a good place to start.
This is my top 7
🧡
1) Vitamin D
I'd get plenty of time in the sun and supplement if necessary.
Vitamin D is necessary for immune health as well as various other functions in the body.
The goal would be 80-110 ng/mL.
2) Testosterone
β€’ Improved immune health
β€’ Improved muscle retention
Elevated RBC count may be beneficial in certain cancers.
I would get a baseline level, then supplement as needed with a goal of 1,100 ng/dL.
3) Protein
Protein helps retain muscle mass. Muscle mass helps prevent cachexia and weight loss. It helps you stay active and maintain independence.
More muscle improves outcomes overall.
I'd shoot for 1.5 grams per lb of bodyweight.
4) Carbs
These would be very limited. Certain cancers thrive in carbohydrate-rich environments.
I'd make carbs ~15% of my daily calories. Only around exercise.
5) Exercise
β€’ Boosts the immune system
β€’ Improves overall health
β€’ Improves mood/attitude
I'd lift weights 3 days/week and do zone 2 cardio the other 4 days.
Again, maintaining muscle mass is very important. Would be silly to neglect this.
6) Sleep
I'd get 8 hours every day. Non-negotiable.
I'd supplement plenty of magnesium and glycine if needed.
Sleep is vital for immune health and recovery. If you're not getting enough sleep, you're not healing optimally.
7) Allostatic Load
When you're dealing with cancer your body doesn't want to fight off other ailments.
This means getting your health in order. Stop eating crap food. Stop sitting around all day. Fix underlying conditions.
The healthier you are, the better.
I hope that list helps.
Not everything on this list will be relevant for every cancer but it's a good place to start.
Everything on this list will improve your health. That goes a long way towards defeating cancer.
