A rāfiḍī once said to Imām Abū Ḥanīfah رحمه الله,
“Who is the strongest of all people?”
The Imām replied,
(1/3)
“In our opinion it is ‘Alī, for he acknowledged Abū Bakr was rightly deserving [of the Caliphate] so he handed it to him. However, according to you then it is Abū Bakr, because [in your opinion] he forcefully took it from ‘Alī and ‘Alī was unable to take it back from him.”
The rāfiḍī was left perplexed with the answer.
