Everyone wants to get paid for their ideas.
But no one shows them how.
I’m building a digital course in public to show you how to productize yourself:
🧵
First, when should you build a course?
When you’ve:
1) Achieved something people want
2) Can help people get a result
Why a course?
Because it’s a great way to “productize yourself”.
In other words, you create it once, but can sell it forever.
It also positions you as the authority in your niche:
• Jack Butcher “Visualize Value” Guy
• Dickie Bush “Digital Writing” Guy
• Dan Koe “2 Hour Writer” Guy
I’m looking to be…
Jay Yang “Content Multiplier” Guy
(But more on this later)
Here’s how I’m building my course:
Step 1: Listen for signal
If you build your audience the right way…
People will tell you what they want.
I’ve had countless comments, questions & DMs asking me about my content system:
In fact, I showed my content system to a client of mine and they said:
“Dude, how is this not a product already?”
If that isn’t a sign, idk what is.
Okay let’s keep moving:
Step 2: Validate idea
Once I had the idea of turning my content system into a product…
I wanted to see if people would buy it.
I wrote a newsletter revealing parts of my content system to:
1) Build anticipation
2) Validate idea
At the end of my newsletter…
I took a poll and asked if they would buy my system:
I set a target number of 30 yes’s aaannd I got 37.
It’s build time!
(Oh, here’s the newsletter if you’re interested): jayyanginspires.beehiiv.com
Step 3: Build MVP
I got to work turning my system into a product.
I removed personal things, made it as universal as possible, and templatized it into 1 Notion hub.
Next?
Step 4: Get feedback
I sent my system to my inner circle and got my 1st round of feedback.
@thesyedhuq said he’d pay $199 for it…
(But don’t worry, it won’t be that much 😉)
Step 5: Collect testimonials
When people want to make an important decision…
They look to others.
Social proof is huge when launching a course.
Step 6: Write your sales page
I already wrote a thread on how to write one, so I’ll just link it here:
Step 7: Build hype
If randomly you just say you launched a course…
People will think it’s odd.
Share how you’re building your course:
• Why did you build it?
• What does it solve?
• Who is it for?
(This thread is building hype for my course)
And that’s it for now!
The next steps will be to launch, promote, and scale your course.
(Also pricing, naming, course hosts, etc.)
I’ll add those steps as I complete them and share what I learn as I go.

Step 8: Pricing
When pricing your course, ask yourself:
“Will this person get 10x the value they paid in money?”
Here’s how I’m going to price my course:
$99 for newsletter subscribers
$119 for everyone else
$150 after launch week

Step 9: Naming
Your course name is CRUCIAL.
It’s the difference between:
Digital marketing course
vs.
Build Once, Sell Twice
Which name “sticks” in your mind better?
Step 10: Course Hosting
There are MANY possible ways to host your course.
I’m choosing Gumroad.
Yes, despite them raising their fees to 10%.
Why?
Well, for several reasons:
1) I’ve used the platform before
2) It doesn’t cost money upfront to start
3) Many people already have their info in Gumroad system
But… I can always change later as we go.
Remember:
MVP —> Iterate
Get going, then get good.
Okay, the plan is to launch Sunday (Jan 27)
I still have to record the video course:
Step 11: Promotion Plan
You never want to just randomly announce you have a course.
That's weird.
That's why building in public is so key.
You not only share the progress... but you also build hype.
After I launch, I'll set up an affiliate network to help promote my course.
Most people say to pay out 20-25% in commissions.
I'm paying out 50%.
Why?
Because that's the type of business I want to run...
I win = WE win.
Right before you launch...
Share bts sneek peeks of your course:
The goal is to get people as excited as you are for your course:
"The bigger deal you make something, the bigger deal other people will make it." - Alex Hormozi
Step 12: LAUNCH!!!
After finalizing everything and making sure there aren't any glaring mistakes...
We launch!
Send out your promotional emails, Twitter threads, etc.
And enjoy the fruits of your labor.
You earned it.
Btw my email list will get 1st access to my course (and for the best discount)...
So if you want first dibs, join my newsletter:
(I'll be launching this week 👀)

And it's live!!
34 creators have already gotten access to my system.
