1. Putrajaya should look into tiered dividends to address the issue of EPF contributors having low savings for retirement, says PKR’s Lee Chean Chung.
He says the implementation will provide the highest returns to the first RM50,000 savings contribution.
2. This would be followed by RM50,000 to RM240,000 savings (basic savings target), and savings of RM240,000 and above, Lee says.
“Jika pencarum mempunyai simpanan lebih RM1 juta, beliau masih boleh mendapat dividen yang tinggi untuk RM50,000 simpanannya,” he adds.
3. “Pengeluaran berterusan adalah umpama membunuh angsa bertelur emas.
“Ianya bukan sahaja melepaskan peluang untuk menambahkan aset pencarum, malah juga memerlukan antara 3 hingga 5 tahun untuk paras simpanan kembali ke paras asal,” Lee says.
4. Lee also suggests increasing foreign investments by EPF and limiting withdrawals after the age of 55.
The Petaling Jaya MP calls on all parties to focus on ensuring sufficient retirement savings for EPF contributors, instead of allowing further withdrawals from the fund.
