Delighted to share my piece in this months @TheCriticMag on the amazing “Fairer Disputations” @FairerSexFD redeeming feminism for women’s interests.
It’s more important and relevant in a world which is increasingly “all or nothing” that women have a space to advance their interests without complete agreement on everything.
True intersectionality would accept that not all women think abortion is fantastic for example, but this shouldn’t be an object for pursuing policies in women’s broader interests.
Particularly, women should be wary of arguments that feminism is dependent upon “bodily autonomy”. A sleight of hand to coerce women into disregarding the integrity of their embodied reality for trans inclusivity.
It is of little surprise that some of the most vocal supporters of “bodily autonomy for all” like Pink News suddenly stop caring about MPs views on abortion when they share favourable sentiments on “trans rights” (e.g. Jeremy Hunt).
