I haven’t seen my grandmother 4 years.
Last night, I arrived in India and surprised her at home. It was an emotional moment for both of us. The best part was getting to FaceTime in my son to meet his great grandmother.
These moments are priceless.
And getting some rare quality time with the most wonderful, crazy parents a guy could ask for!
India is an absolutely incredible place.
The growth, development, and energy is off the charts.
The future is bright.

Auto rickshaw rides were my favorite as a kid.
The three of us barely fit in one now, but we made it work!
The sights, sounds, and smells bring back all the memories.
I’m very proud of my Indian heritage.
My wife and I had a hybrid Indian-American wedding in 2016. My one chance to feel like a Bollywood star!
I’ll share a full set of reflections on India at the end of the trip, but one of the most striking is the level of social connection and love that is deeply embedded in the culture.
Family bonds are incredibly important and people default to warmth and genuine affection.
Example:
After my grandfather passed in 2006, we worried about my grandmother being lonely and struggling mentally on her own.
But for 15+ years, she has had a constant set of family and friends who call on her at home and spend time with her.
It’s really an amazing thing.
My mom hired a writer to sit down with my grandmother to document stories from her childhood and life.
She loved it—it brought her great joy to recount these stories.
Now we’re gathering photos to include with the stories and came across this gem of the two of us from 1992.
I love India, but I can’t wait to get home to my best pal this weekend!
All smiles after our final Scrabble game, but this was a very difficult goodbye.
You never know when it’s going to be the last time you see someone.
I’ll be back soon.
❤️❤️❤️
