3 LT Dangers to πŸ•‰οΈ:
-Jatitva: Caste being mobilized for political-societal conflict, discrimination, & gov policy
-Liberalism: Thinking πŸ•‰οΈ is bereft of boundaries, disciplines, & traditions
-Atheism: Lack of belief in God is a lack of irrational will to power. Faith is strength
Jatitva is clear to see.
People will vote their own castemen not just disregarding policy, but also disregarding Dharma. Various regional parties are exactly this.
Jatitva creates fissures in Hindu society, easily exploitable by non-Hindus.
Crabs in a bucket mentality.
Hinduism is a pluralistic, diverse, & tolerant faith.
But it does have boundaries. It has age old disciplines & traditions. It evolves with region & time but at its own pace under the guidance of Gurus & scriptures.
Hinduism cannot risk becoming a Ship of Theseus.
I see this point vs liberalism as particularly complex because Hindu modernity indeed has to absorb successful aspects of Enlightenment thought
Certain traditions will be left behind & Hinduism will be different, but it should not be a brown skinned copy of classical liberalism
Now for perhaps the most controversial: Atheism is not good for Hinduism.
Belief in something greater will make humans achieve greater. Material rationality will fall to an irrational devotion, an illogical rigor, a defiant advancement against the odds.
Faith is power.
Without faith, one falls into despair. Without belief one cannot fight against the seemingly impossible. One cannot sacrifice for the greater good.
One’s life begins & ends with their eyes
One doesn’t fight for a cause. At least at scale - key point. Belief mobilizes masses.
In the midst of Shaheen Bagh, in the furrows of the farmer’s protest, it’s participants held onto faith. No matter how irrational their belief or thoughts, they made a state bend its knee. They knew their God was on their side, victory would be inevitable.
Irrationality is good.
Hinduism should not be reduced to simply sterile philosophy or esp not anthropology as knock off neo-Mimansins do on Twitter, where Hinduism becomes a source of identity kanging & pick & choose traditionalism based on a pdf.
Today’s Hinduism must promote belief in Paramatma.
