Sunlight and its role in health.
Thread 🧵
Let's talk about the importance of sunlight today.
Many ancient civilizations, if not all of them, worshiped the sun.
Ancient Egyptians had Ra, the sun God and was associated with primal life-giving energy.
Ra, embodied the power of the sun but was also thought to be the sun
itself, envisioned as the great God riding in his barge across the heavens throughout the day and descending into the underworld at sunset.
As he made his way through the darkness beneath the earth, he was attacked nightly by the giant serpent Apophis (also known as Apep) who
tried to prevent the sun from rising and so destroy all life on earth.
Which brings us to the first conclusion.
Without the sun, everything will die.
Every plant, every animal and every human being will stop existing in a matter of weeks.
Sun is what allows growth to happen
on this planet.
But what are people told these days?
The sun is bad.
The sun will give you cancer.
The modern sun propaganda has completely messed up people's perceptions when it comes to sun exposure.
First of all, if you think that the sun is unnecessary and damaging your
health, try spending 2 weeks in a dark room and see what will happen.
You will become weaker, sadder and you will have very little energy.
⅔ of our energy levels are dependent on the sun and there’s a reason for it.
Now, it is in fact very true that most people today are
sensitive to the sun.
How did this happen?
We need to understand 2 things when it comes to this.
How our skin works and what is hormesis.
Our entire body is made out of the things we eat and so is our skin.
80 years ago, skin cancer didn’t exist.
Did people have sunscreens
that were applied every hour?
Of course not.
So, what changed and we ended up being so sensitive to the sun?
Many things.
First of all, the last decades our food system has been controlled by very few big food corporations who switched healthy saturated fats with unsaturated
fats in order to increase their profits.
Unsaturated fats are more reactive to oxygen since they lack hydrogen atoms so they lead to oxidative stress and disease.
Since every cell in our bodies needs “fat” (every cell membrane is made out of fat/cholesterol), when we’re not
consuming saturated fats but unsaturated fats, our cell membranes will be made out of these poisons and we’ll have suboptimal protection against harmful everyday compounds.
You can try this yourselves.
Try cutting out unsaturated fats such as: canola oil, sunflower oil, soybean
oil, corn oil, margarine and in general do not eat packaged food.
99% of the packaged food is being controlled by big food corps so there will be crap in it.
Moving on.
Then you MUST add some quality sources of vitamin E such as cold pressed red palm oil , vitamin C rich
foods such as berries and acerola berry or camu camu powder and address oxidative stress.
After you’ve done these for a few weeks (stopped consuming out inferior fats and addressed oxidative stress), gradually expose yourself to sunlight first thing in
the morning.
Which will also do wonders for your skin and eyes by the way*
Another thing that changed is that people do not spend time in the sun every day.
We mentioned hormesis a while back.
What does this mean in plain English?
It means that one’s capacity for sunlight is
built through low and regular doses of exposure.
If you spend zero time in the sun and one day decide to spend 5 hours, yeah….you’ll get sunburnt no matter what you do.
What we should do instead is to go outside daily (start with even 10 minutes) and gradually build
tolerance.
If you ignore this, the sun will 100% harm you.
Ignoring the hormetic effect is dangerously wrong.
If you care about living healthily in your short time on this earth, understand that you need the sun.
We all do.
The sun heals us.
*Animals know*
It leads to:
1)Improved insulin sensitivity.
Even half an hour of sunlight per day for 7 days straight can show a 0.8-1.05% decrease in insulin resistance and a 0.4–0.54% improvement in beta-cell function.
2) Optimal circadian rhythm which leads to getting quality sleep which
has so many benefits that it is hard to mention even 1/100 of them.
3)Optimal vitamin D levels.
4)Optimal testosterone levels.
Sunlight exposure can increase testosterone levels up even 200%.
5)A healthy thyroid.
And 1000 other benefits.
Daily sunlight exposure will drastically improve your health.
Last but not least, throw away your toxic sunscreen.
It is known to cause cancer and infertility.
A great natural alternative to sunscreen can be coconut oil and mineral based ones.
