Elites of defeated and demoralised nations often forget what victory feels like, and instead act self-deprecating and status-conscious; sensitive to the opinion of foreigners, instead of their own patriotic masses.
In that sense, India is akin to Armenia, Cyprus, Japan, Serbia.
