The only lesson I drew from Daily Wire/Crowder affair is how much $ is at stake. It’s now much easier to understand why people who come up in conservative media end up as totally ineffective sellouts. And it makes sense to look at such ‘celebrities’ with a far more critical eye.
This also underscores my only real concern re DeSantis. He’s not rich, which makes him huge target for big $$. It’s hard to follow the ‘he is effective’ line when you consider the pressures he will come under as POTUS to cut deals. He sees Obama and his wealth.
It’s also worth looking at the financial situation of his promoters, and how much they have to gain. I haven’t seen the sort of populist appeal that could make DeSantis capable of victory without the usual machine. And if he needs them, he will have to do what they want.
To clarify this point - look at the shaky finances of Rick Wilson, and his willingness to do and say just about anything, to get his financial house in order.
