Logo design is an adventure. Perseverance and the ability to see beyond ideas are required to archive impactful design. In this quick demo, I will show you how to create an original logo from a rough idea to a high-quality final design. Simply stick to a thread.
The first step is to understand the design brief and select the best keywords for the logo design.
The second step is to create visual inspirations after reading the design brief and filtering out the best keywords. Shutterstock is the best place to find visual inspiration; go to the search box and type any vocabulary from the design brief.
Do not use words like "logistics logo ideas" or "restaurant logo ideas" when creating visual inspirations. Prepare creative direction and a mood board using the keywords derived from the design brief.
Rest for several hours after creating the mood board, or you may need to wait several days before sketching. You are not designing a logo here, but rather attempting to connect your ideas on paper, so avoid using an eraser or a ruler and instead sketch whatever comes to mind.
Make sure you've completed at least 50 sketches, and it doesn't have to be all at once. Then, filter the sketches that you like and gradually refine them to get the final concepts.
It's computer time; Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard software for logo design. Vectorize and translate your concepts so that your clients can understand the ideas behind your design. Remember, this is only a concept and not the final logo.
After the client has chosen the concept that he understands the best, it is time to go back and read the design brief as well as the mood board. Continue to refine it gradually until the brandmark matches the design brief and reflects brand personality.
The final step is to make logo lockups. You must be careful to check the origin of the name, as well as the type of name and font style you use. If the name is long, use an alignment that makes it easier to read. Prepare a variety of lockups to increase the logo's versatility.
This is the industry standard logo design process; for beginners, don't rush. If you are stacked, take a break and find another time to resume until you achieve your goal.
