Genetically, the closest people to the Indus Valley Civilization are Gujaratis followed by Dravidian speakers such as Nair, Bunt, Velama, Vellalar, Iyer, Reddy. I guess, so much for the idea that the IVC belongs to Pakistan, turns out Gujjus & South Indians are the real heirs.
Gujarat does have the best claim, since it has insane geographic and genetic continuity.
This is a cumulative average of every Indus Valley sample, including the low AASI ones. In fact, Indians are the closest to even the low AASI cluster of Harappa (Indus_GonurBA2)
True, never thought of it this way.
Nope. There are three Indus_Gonur samples, but unfortunately you only have access to 2 of them which are lower AASI so make it artifically closer to Pakistan.
The moment you add the 3rd sample to the average, 'Western IVC' becomes closest to Indians.
I do have Pakistani samples, they are just extremley distant from "Indus West"
Individual samples are kinda irrelevant to my point, on average both SiS2 and Gonur are closest to Indians.
