147 days ago, I started to learn storytelling.
Since then, I doubled my income writing stories for small businesses worldwide.
Here are 6 storytelling principles I use to make sure your customers will fall in love with your story:
1/ Define the protagonist
If you want people to ignore you:
Create content about your products.
Nobody cares.
People like reading about THEIR:
• challenges
• desires
• pains
Make your reader the protagonist of your story.
They won't resist.
2/ Start strong
Nothing worse than a platitude in the introduction.
You have a few SECONDS to entice your reader to scroll down & read more.
Make sure those seconds are not wasted on some obvious BS.
3/ Define the conflict
Great conflict makes people excited to read more and more of your content.
Once again – come back to what you know about your audience.
What conflict do they deal with? And how can you help them resolve it?
4/ Stick to the point
Good stories don't digress.
Keep your writing focused on 1 main topic.
Get specific and deep. If you can support your points with experience – please do.
You'll get ahead of most content online.
5/ Use good pacing
Pacing is what drives your story forward.
Don't throw everything on the page at once.
Keep the intrigue going, revealing details one by one.
6/ Use cliffhangers
If your goal is to call the reader to action
Leave out one most important detail behind the CTA button.
People crave resolutions and logic.
When you use a cliffhanger, you make the next step irresistible.
TLDR – 6 steps to use storytelling in content marketing:
1. Define the protagonist
2. Start strong
3. Define the conflict
4. Stick to the point
5. Use good pacing
6. Use cliffhangers
That's a wrap!
