1. Continuous rain could cause a shortage of vegetables during Ramadan, Utusan Malaysia reports.
“Due to this, produce prices are expected to rise during the festive season,” the portal quoted the Yong Peng Vegetable Gardeners Association as saying.

2. President Cheng Tai Hoe adds, Thailand is also likely to be similarly affected by the wet weather, which could drive up the prices of imported vegetables.
He notes that the price of cucumbers has gone up to around RM10 per kg, while long beans from Thailand are up to RM16.
3. Meanwhile, several sellers and farmers’ associations have reported the same predicament to CNA.
“There has been no sunlight, so naturally, the prices of vegetables will go up,” the KL Vegetable Wholesaler’s Association told the agency.

4. According to CNA, the prices of some vegetables have gone up by up to 100% in the past month.
They include tomatoes, lady’s fingers, long beans and eggplants.
