1/ Nothing is said in #Egypt that annoys Sisi. And nothing is said in the #UAE that annoys Bin Zayed. Both have an iron grip on public debate.
So when the Egypt-UAE rift spills over into the public arena, you know there is a serious problem between them...

2/ #UAE+Saudi are not happy with how Sisi has handled the economy, how he has spent the billions of dollars they gave him, and #Egypt army's refusal to loosen its grip on assets they want to buy.
Sisi is not happy with changing attitudes in the Gulf towards providing aid.

3/ The underlying dynamic that underpinned relations has also vanished. Muslim Brotherhood = no longer a threat. The potency of Arab Spring has dissipated, and diverging interests have emerged in different areas [#Libya, #Turkiye, #Sudan]. The unity of purpose is no longer there.

4/ In short, Sisi badly needs the financial help but does not like the increasing strings being attached.
Meanwhile, UAE and Saudi are no longer sure it is the best way to invest their money...
