There's three reasons someone carries a revolver in 2023:
1. They are an old timer who is just used to them from when they were ascendant.
2. They got bad advice to buy one as a purse gun.
3. They know all the downsides, but revolvers are cool as hell! Lol

On the flip side, they are reliable* and as simple as it gets.
Capacity is limited, but for most self defense scenarios, 5 or 6 is usually (not always!) enough.
And some newer carry revolvers are actually nicer to shoot. Love my Colt Night Cobra. Crazy smooth trigger too.

*I know some claim the reliability of revolvers is overstated, and they can lock up just like a semiauto can jam.
I'm sure that's true, but the latter seems to happen a lot more than the former.
