De Zerbi changed his build up shape against Bournemouth (who played the same shape as Leicester City - out of possession).
3-Box-3 vs Bournemouth (pic 1)
4-Box-2 (no CF) vs Leicester City (pic 2)
3-Box-3 relies more on the 1v1 ability of the Wingers rather than overloads
Bournemouth actually dropped Anthony down to LWB & pushed Zemura inside, making a 5-2-3/5-3-2 out of possession.
Lerma missed a big chance on the 16th minute to make it 1-0.
Undav had missed a big chance minutes before.
Still slightly more end to end that RDZ would like…
One of the most impressive aspects of De Zerbi’s spell at Brighton is that the style & performances have been fairly consistent despite an ever changing line up.
Gilmour/Lamptey/Undav/van Hecke/Ferguson/Sarmiento & Colwill have all been given starts in recent matches.
Comments like this are fair enough
It’s hard on Twitter to explain something complex in few characters. Brighton are often 4-2-4 but the 2 FWDs drop to AM positions to make a box Midfield. This happens fairly regularly hence I call it 4-Box-2 (no CF)
But I could be talking πŸ’©πŸ˜‚
