Let me begin with what can be easily agreed with.
RSSâs characterisation in the larger world is very much inconsistent and rather distortive of its actual views, stances and performances. It being projected as Extreme Right Wing is deliberate and wrong. Jaggi is right.

But in his personal views on how RSS must go forward, Jaggi makes many a big leaps in absolutely wrong directions.
The conceptual framework using which he approaches this debate itself requires a lot of change.

1. Firstly, he characterises RSS as the organization of the âHindu Leftâ or of the âSecularized Hindusâ.
If that is the Truth we have a bigger problem.
If that is his proposal as a direction it is a disastrous characterisation, admission of an intellectual/cultural defeat.

A. Why do we need a Hindu Left or Secularized Hindus.
B. Why does a reconfiguration of Varna/Jati (âtaking onâ in his view) require H-Left or the secularised.
This is a complete wrong formulation and an admission that we dont have any alternate imagination at all.

I am one of those who readily agrees that Kula-Jati-Varna requires a reconfiguration and we need an umbrella organization. I would want RSS to be that in the absence of the past Kshatriyas.
However, that is not by capitulating and initiating a Left-isation or Secularization.

This is too much ad hoc or lazy thinking. This is very much the Protestant Reform that our society was subjected to - starting Roy.
We need to start from our Ontology & then say what is the Reconfiguration required.
Requires an Intellectual, Cultural, Sacred investment.

2. On the second point, I agree on the need.
The gap between H-Traditionalists and H-Modernists must reduce - physical, psychological and intellectual distances.
It should not result in (A+B)/2 average.
A genuine conceptual engagement and way forward is needed.

But I am not very sure if RSS is able to initiate that yet.
On the ground, it does not seem to be so. Is RSS itself engaging with deep Tradition? Is it investing in independent Intellectuals, IKS Champions, Sacred Anchors, Creative Thinkers and bringing them together?

And again on the Temple Decontrol - Jaggi is formulating the problem incorrectly.
It is indeed true that Caste supremacy and conflicts are coming in the way of Temple Decontrol. RSS & everybody else should be rightly concerned.
But is not about âreductionâ in casteism.

+
It is about restoring âInterfacesâ that existed in the past between Jati-s.
These Interfaces too as secondary constructs of the primary H-Ontology, just as Kula-Jati-Varna entities were.
The destruction of these interfaces has resulted in insecurity/supremacy.

That RSS as an Umbrella Org must seek this & drive this is completely true. That is I think RSS is doing as well and must continue to do so.
Formulating this as Castism Reduction will push the thrust on Castes.
Net result will be even worse Castesim or Complete Abrahamism.

3. On Integrating Minorities using the larger Hindu Cultural Framework, I think its work in progress.
Many steps forward, Many steps backward.
But if the foundation of Point-1 and Point-2 are wrong, Point-3 can never be right.

Point-1 is most disappointingly articulated.
What are our Religious Trappings and Symbolisms that are coming in the way of, for heavens sake, What?
How did our Strength become our Weakness?

H-Universe has two parts
- An Ontological Fundamental which has a way of âComputing/Formingâ the Future at all levels - Social, Political, Cultural, Economical
- An Real World Organization based on that Ontology
A Cultural Victory is to rebuild the latter with the former.

Its one thing to see we need âNewâ Religious Instruments and Symbolisms. That is cultural confidence that comes from a deeper understanding of our foundation. That is the excitement of indulging in new âSrishtiâ towards the âSthitiâ - an eternal journey.
+
+
When we formulate it as âReligious Trappingsâ and âComing in the way Symbolismsâ - its a grand admission of cultural and intellectual defeat.
While Jaggi seeks the right position for RSS, I disagree with Jaggiâs formulation of the problem and the terms of way forward.

As one of our foremost thinkers, cultural personalities and thinkers - I just hope Jaggi will reconsider his framing and ambition on this.
Otherwise, we will just continue Rajaram Mohan Royâs journey.
With due apologies to @TheJaggi for all the freedoms of a critic assumed.
