I’ve written everyday for 404 days.
Here are 7 mindset shifts that helped me transform my writing:
Here are 7 mindset shifts that helped me transform my writing:
1/ You are *NEVER* an expert.
Having an expert mindset does 2 things:
It subconsciously drives you to create advanced level content
You start thinking you know better than most people out there.
You don’t.

90% of the audience you’re writing to has a beginner mindset.
Always write in a way that resonates to a beginner.

2/ You are in the problem-solving business.
It’s good to write about your curiosities.
But it’s often beneficial to write about those curiosities if they’re solving a problem for someone.

Online, if you aren’t solving a problem, nobody is going to read what you write.
So, find your curiosities & make a list of problems you can solve with those curiosities.

3/ More courses won’t make you a better writer.
Fucking up and failing will.
Research and studying *tricks* you into thinking you’re doing something productive.
In reality, you’re just wasting your time.

A good use of your time?
Picking a few of those resources, putting those into practice and learning from your mistakes.
Start taking action from whatever you know and iterate along the way.

4/ Curiosity is your secret weapon.
There’s nothing wrong with writing to make money.
That was a goal for the majority of the first 6 months of writing online.
But after a point, you start burning out because you aren’t genuinely interested about writing.

So, pick a curiosity and start writing about it.
The more you write, the more you learn about it.
The more you learn about it, the faster you develop authority in that niche.

5/ Reading fiction will transform your writing.
I’ll keep hammering this in your head.
If you want to improve your writing, pick 5 writing books and 10 fiction books.
Religiously read for 60 minutes a day and put everything into practice.

Religiously read for 60 minutes a day and put everything into practice.
Not only does it improve your writing, but also improves your vocabulary and makes you empathetic (understand human emotions well.)
Which is a must if you want to make it as a writer.

6/ Prioritize rest, and see the quality of your work improve.
You’ll feel the need to keep working, keep writing about something, even after you’re done.
Do yourself a favour: STOP.

Unless it’s your JOB, you don’t have to write 4-6 hours a day.
write for 2, research for 1 and rest of the day, do whatever makes you happy.
Spend time with your family, workout, read, rest, etc.

7/ It’s okay to recycle your old content.
This is NOT a sin.
When you published that piece of content, people engaged with it and got a quick dopamine hit from it, and forgot about it 2 days later.
So, you need to package it in a way that’s new for them.
