This thread summarizes much of what was presented in the “Orbit of Mary” episode as well as our commentary on the “Hadīth of women’s intellect”.

Of additional note is that among the highly problematic signs in our times is the “theorization” of knowledge…1/
…meaning a conceptualization without a reality. To know is not to be. Rather, to be is to know. The former is a secular model of knowledge, while the latter is the correct representation of the Islamic spiritual tradition. It is for this reason that…2/
…our new tafsir sub-genre focuses on making a direct connection between the Quran and the PEOPLE of the Quran as the only true vehicle to the realization of divine meanings. We can SAY we respect women, but we DO differently, a phenomenon not so uncommon in our community…3/
This mind-heart DIS-continuum brings us no closer to Quranic realities but only closer to THINKING we are, a ‘blind-spot’ obstacle, for one who perceives themselves as having attained a thing no longer strives for it. As such…4/
As such, it’s critically imperative for WOMEN to speak about the divine realities of womanhood, as only they have the potential to reach such realities (by the very argument that genders are not the same!), as opposed to…5/
men speaking (even well, as the thread above) in a theoretical way about a reality they can never attain. This is why traditional Islamic FEMALE scholarship is an absolute necessity in our times to rectify the gender havoc being wreaked upon our species. Conversely…6/
Conversely, Muslim women who engage in defensive religious rhetoric to oppose the hegemony of secular blasphamism are, in actuality, doing the same thing —representing a theory not a reality, thereby promoting the dis-continuum of true scholarly tradition. As such…7/
As such, they seem to “defend” Islām’s stance externally, while being entirely unrepresentative of it’s spiritual & scholarly reality. Essentially, they become defined, not by Islām, but by thing they oppose. They become ANTI-feminist, anti-this, anti-that, as opposed to…8/
as opposed to being the PROactive reality of the Quran, Sunnah, and scholarly tradition of Islām. In fact, it’s the enemies of Religion who profit from this, keeping our community running in circles around their anti-Islām machine, unable to focus on the true substance…9/
unable to focus on the true substance by which we actualize the reality of being godly men, godly women, godly scholars and a godly community under the Shade of Revelation, immune from the moral decrepitude that continues to eat away at the human soul and distort the fitra. 10/
The fact that our community responds to a call such as this - namely the need for female scholarship to proactively define the Islamic realities of gender & family through Islamic orthodoxy, tradition, and spirituality - with lowliness and disregard, while simultaneously…11/
while simultaneously being ridiculously forgiving of the often repulsively ignorant and offensive nature of male-initiated gender “discourse” is enough proof that we are a universe away from the message we claim to preach. We aren’t honoring women. We only say we are. Fact. 12/
We don’t respect women. We only say we do. Fact. We don’t want our women to fly. We want to keep reframing the proper ‘lady-like’ thing to do under the cage of colonialism. We aren’t rearing our women to recognize that Religion defines the mutual roles of men and women…13/
on the scale of divine humility & human dignity, neither of which contradicts the other. Humble adherence to the roles outlined by the sacred law is an acknowledgment that servitude to God is the ultimate freedom from all. Framing it in any other way…14/
Framing it any other way defeats the moral spirit of women & hinders the spiritual flight of the soul. That’s NOT Tradition. Proud believing women know who they are, why they are, for Whom they are, don’t need to prove to anyone & live it, daily. That’s the Quranic Reality. 15/
It also enables abuse and conflates healthy chivalry with egotistical lording over, a recipe that fans the flames of gender war. It also supports a deranged conception of adab in religious circles & seminaries serving to hinder female scholarship. I’ve witnessed it myself. 16/
We don’t acknowledge female scholarship. We acknowledge that it’s vogue to do so. We’re good at striking a pose, failing miserably at bequeathing a Reality. Ironically, women in academia are supported, despite widespread agreement of its ineptitude by traditional measures. 17/
There are also grave misunderstandings on the general relations between men & women in the public sphere vs role-specific male authority (father, husband). No, not every man has authority over every woman. This is a gross misinterpretation of the Quranic text.* 18/
The Sunnah*, however, indicates the “place” of women as being ‘behind’ men, in both the public & private sphere, not as a sign of subjugation, but to signify the male responsibility to protect all women. This is Islamic chivalry. If men don’t do their job, though, then what? 19/
What ensues is that women not only lose faith in men, but in the sacred law that runs parallel to their feminine nature (fitra) & the God Who decreed both. Utter destruction. It MUST change. We are our own enemy when we don’t have the courage to humbly admit our deficiencies. 20/
We @FitraFoundation continue to work toward the paradigm of BEING, in hopes of breathing new life into a Tradition of both men & women who know what they were born to do & the Lord Who created them to do it.
We pray that the spectrum of ‘reality’ moves toward cooperation.
