*Who is the best Arsenal attacker to pick at the moment?
Arsenal are unquestionably the best team to target at the moment. With two double Gameweeks coming up for Arsenal as well as no blanks, the best options need to be prioritized.
Even the fixtures after Gameweek 25 (BOU ful CRY) are great so now is the time to bring in whoever you think are the optimal three to own.
At the moment, I feel as if Nketiah is the best Arsenal attacker to own – based on underlying data since the restart:
Nketiah v Saka v Martinelli v Odegaard (Post restart)
Big chances: 7 v 2 v 1 v 0
Shots in the box: 20 v 12 v 13 v 10
xGi: 4.9 v 3.0 v 2.8 v 3.0
Nketiah is a clear winner here
He is also one of the few standout forwards at the moment while there are plenty of options in midfield. It's also worth noting that with DGW25 in play, Nketiah's stock has risen even further as it gives him more chances to play games in quick succession while Jesus recovers.
*Are Martinelli & Ben White worth holding onto?
At the start of the season, a lot of us started with Martinelli as a budget enabler in our teams but at the moment he does not make the cut for the optimal three attackers because there are better options out there in the form...
... of Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard. This is why I prefer selling Martinelli - even if it is at the cost of a hit since I expect that hit to pay off till Gameweek 28 at the latest.
With the arrival of Trossard, his minutes will be reduced and with games coming thick and fast, he can even miss the odd game.
Ben White is an interesting one. He is prone to getting subbed early but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing for a defender.
I still think he's first choice despite the fact that he's been poor of late. I personally think that he has enough credit in the bank to survive being dropped hastily.
I would suspect wholesale changes are unlikely after Arteta claimed to "love the team even more" after the defeat to Everton.
*Which one of Saka/Odegaard is better and why?
Picking between Saka and Ødegaard is tough as their underlying numbers are fairly similar:
Saka v Ødegaard (Post restart)
Big chances: 2 v 0
Big chances created: 1 v 4
xGi: 3.0 v 3.0
Saka v Ødegaard (Over the season)
Big chances: 6 v 4
Big chances created: 3 v 10
xGi: 9.2 v 10.8
I prefer Saka over Ødegaard at the moment. A factor that might go in the favour of Saka over Ødegaard is the captaincy in double Gameweek 25.
If Gabriel Jesus is closer to a return and Liverpool continue to look poor, then I believe there is every chance you might want to captain Saka in Gameweek 25.
It's also worth noting that with so many games coming up in quick succession, penalties might have a greater role to play - which makes me lean towards Saka over Ødegaard despite the price difference.
*Should Bruno be sold for Mahrez or De Bruyne?
Selling Bruno this GW could hurt - even v Leeds yesterday he had the best xGi and was unlucky to have blanked.
Since a lot of us will be looking to move the Bruno slot to Salah in the coming weeks, it’s an extra transfer hence I look at it as Bruno + four points v KDB/Mahrez (AVL, ars).
I'd be slightly more confident with KDB as I expect him to start twice but wouldn't swap Bruno out for Mahrez. There were reports that Pep was angry at Mahrez during half time which scares me to buy.
*Is it worth triple captaining Haaland this GW?
I think the fact that Rashford in GW22 managed to outscore Haaland in GW20 is making FPL managers more open to the idea of looking elsewhere from Haaland.
Despite the double GW25 announcement, I still feel as if triple captaining Haaland this GW is the safe play – he’s the talisman for Manchester City and with goals being spread around at Arsenal, I wouldn’t want to take the risk to triple captain anyone barring the Norwegian.
*What should be the plan with Liverpool in double GW25?
Fulham beating Sunderland means that we wouldn’t know whether or not Liverpool play in GW28 until after their double in GW25. Hence, it is important not to overcommit on their assets.
Having said that, I still think Salah could be worth going for given his historical pedigree even though he has registered just five shots in his previous four PL matches.
I would have a contingency plan in place to get Salah in your team before GW25 as he could well possibly be the best captaincy option should Liverpool show signs of form.
Darwin is trickier to get to – since a lot of us own Kane who is a long term hold and Mitrovic who has a decent fixture at home v Wolves in GW25.
The defence is still hard to back as they remain 19th for big chances conceded all season.
*Is triple City essential for the double?
I don't think triple City this week is essential by any means. I think you're well set if you have Haaland & one of Mahrez/KDB - you could just prioritize using transfers to set yourself up for GW25.
The defence is a bit of a minefield anyway and with the UCL starting soon, you wouldn't want triple City beyond this week, not even De Bruyne.
*What to do for those with Cancelo? Who to buy?
I think if you’ve kept Cancelo till now, you might as well keep him on the bench again this week since his replacement isn’t obvious.
A lot of us own Shaw, Trippier and an Arsenal defender which is a perfectly playable defence anyway this GW.
If you want to sell Cancelo, then an enabler like Tarkowski could be a good option.
If you’re looking at a City defender, Ake is probably the best bet but even he too could be at risk once the UCL kicks in. Akanji has started 13 of the previous 14 in the PL but there are growing calls within the City fans asking for Dias’ inclusion which can put him at risk.
*Worth getting in any Wolves or Everton for the double in GW25?
Wolves are a no-go since it is better to prioritize other teams at the moment and we’d only want their assets from GW25 after which they have a rough run of fixtures.
They are also not guaranteed a fixture in GW28 at the time of writing. Someone like a Tarkowski is extremely cheap and could represent good value as Everton have a good run of fixtures from GW25-28, including a double without any blank.
